new books on my windowsill

My books arrived!

Now that I have ample more time and brain space, I finally ordered some books that have been on my mind recently. Now, I'm not really one for subscriptions (I use my boyfriend's netflix account). And I signed up once for Amazon prime to get free and fast shipping for some school books I realized I actually needed, but cancelled after a month free trial. But now I decided to start Amazon prime again because books can be expensive and my kindle sadly broke. However, I'm not overly upset about it because I much rather prefer the real copy (something so satisfying about flipping each page). I also have dreams of building a giant library in my future tree house someday, so real copies are necessary if I want to fill up all the shelves (if you are also interested in bookshelves, please refer to http://bookshelfporn.com/ for inspiration). But anyways, last week, I signed up for Amazon prime again, ordered a few books for a total of $20, and delightfully found them sitting in my mailbox three days later.

Here is what I got:

Essentially, this book explores Taoism through Winnie-the-Pooh. It already has me laughing out loud as well as seeking out characteristics within myself that are modeled after a simplistic bear.

Writing is powerful, and I wish to be better at it, so I bought this book. Enough said.

Okay, this one actually wasn't one of my Amazon purchases. I bought this back when I was living in Denver. I'm about halfway done, but with my recent move back to Montana, the start of a new job, and the holiday season, I haven't made much progress. Kurt Vonnegut writes with dark, satirical humor. This particular book is a classic antiwar book. 'The Sirens of Titan' is next on my list.

I honestly don't know how I haven't read this book already. It's actually quite small and I'm sure I'll blast through it in a day or two.

Let the reading begin.
